How S.K.I.D.S. Foundation began:
S.K.I.D.S. was conceived one night in 2000 as I lay in my comfortable bed with my wife, wishing I could do more. I turned off the television after the nightly news, just learning about an innocent 3 year old little girl who was killed that same day, at the hands of her mother's boy friend, while he was tending the small child. As always, this made me physically sick to my stomach as I thought about my own children sleeping in their own comfortable beds. As my thoughts turned to inspiration, I knew I needed to do more for kids in need. A strong, genuine feeling touched my heart at that moment as I accepted my meaning/mission in life. No more was I going to sit on the sidelines. These very feelings began my desire to make sure that I would never again simply talk about doing more. I had no idea what to do. I just knew that I needed to be involved, and get others involved. I began creating interest by opening my mouth to my friends, family and even complete strangers, creating awareness within my own world of influence. I began utilizing my connections into the world of creative development and motion picture production. I really wanted to gain the interest and participation from celebrity friends I had aquired over my years working in the motion picture industry. I thought of utilizing them in order to get the attention of the general public. I wanted to begin creating awareness campaigns that might open the minds of people everywhere concerning very real issues involving children, or in my opinion, true innocence. As time passed my goals became more clear as I learned more about what was really going on out there. I clearly noticed a huge and obvious hole in the world of Charity organizations and what they were trying to accomplish. They rarely have enough funding for crucial awareness campaigns and exposure, which is everything to a vital and succssful operation. I realized that I had the ability, with my own film production company, to produce PSA's or Public Service Announcements for worthy and genuine causes that truly need help every day. I then wanted to take these very PSA's and place them for these charity organizations that were already doing what I so adimatley support. This way I could really make a real difference in productivity and feel like I really was helpful. There are so many causes that are worthy of much more support than they receive. My concept behind the foundation was to provide productive, proactive awareness in order to protect and support our most precious assets... True Innocence... Our Future... Our Children.
